Building Brand Awareness in 2020

The Importance of Brand Awareness

Brand awareness by definition means the extent to which consumers are familiar with the distinctive qualities or image of a particular brand of goods or services. The more people that are able to recognize your brand, and in addition are easily able to understand exactly what you offer as a brand, the more brand awareness, and equity, you have. And with all the uncertainty in our society right now, this is as good a time as ever to start building your brand.

Social Media Usage is Surging

People are on social media in record numbers… And they are not only connecting with friends and family, but they are looking for anything that catches their eyes, and passes the time. As more competitors are pulling out of social media advertising, due to unfortunate losses of revenue, this opens the door to allow companies, not normally as competitive on social media due to budget restrictions, to make their move. This is the time to jump on this opportunity…

“In a time of disaster, people rely more on social services … we are seeing surges in traffic, especially in areas most affected,” Zuckerberg said during a conference call with reporters. “People want to stay connected while being asked to maintain social distancing and eliminate loneliness.”

Now is the Time to Produce Content

So even if you are unfortunately in the areas most affected, I’d argue you should be posting content even more. This economy will reopen, and we will eventually get back to where we were before the Covid-19 outbreak, but it will take time and this time should be spent on producing content. That way your brand stands the test of time… It has to because you not only produced more content than your competitor but you did it at a time where more people were active on social media channels. That being said, more people are going to remember your message.

In closing, the numbers show the amount of advertisers on Facebook are way down, yet more people are spending time on social media. This means the opportunity to expand your brand is there. As we realize many companies are trying to make it through, this may be the best opportunity to come out stronger on the other side. And there’s no better time to start building your brand than now.
